Chase Away the Winter Blues . . .

The holidays are over and we’re left with the remaining days of the dark and cold winter season.
Our cold hardy flowers are growing away getting ready to burst into beauty early spring, but, what do we do until then?
How about learning something new, having fun (and de-stressing) with our mid winter workshop? Let me introduce to you our latest offering.
The Art of Tataki-Zomé (Flower Pounding)
Tataki-Zomé, widely practiced by Japanese artists, is the eco-dyeing/printing process of transferring dyes and flower form by hammering flowers and leaves onto cloth or paper. Some think this practice has been around since the Neolithic period.

Imagine placing beautiful flower petals and luscious leaves onto your canvas, covering it up with a paper towel, and pounding away with a hammer? Yes, it seems painful but it’s magical in that the transferred dyes are not always what you expect it to be and, for me, the pounding seems to offer some relief from pent up stress (and frustration), lol.

In the workshop, you will have the opportunity to experiment with various flowers so you will be familiar with the outcome of the hammering. Once you are comfortable with your decision, you will then proceed to hammer away your design and create your one-of-a-kind project.
We currently have an early bird discount of $10 off your registration if you register before 1/15/24. In addition, we purposely scheduled the workshop around Valentine’s weekend to offer it as an option to bring your loved one on a “workshop date” and make long-lasting floral momentos to give to each other in lieu of fresh flowers (but don’t forget the chocolates!)
Private sessions can be arranged for groups of 5 or more; contact us to arrange day and time.
Other Offerings
In addition to the Tataki-Zomé workshop, our spring line-ups include: Flower Crown Workshop, and Flower Centerpiece Workshop.
Also, with our flowers growing away, it won’t be long before our early spring beauties begin to bloom … think fancy daffodils, luscious tulips, and ethereal poppies … just to wet your appetite.

A sneak peak of spring flowers to come.
And, what better way to celebrate the arrival of spring than with our spring flower subscriptions. When you purchase our subscription, you will receive a lush bouquet of the best of our flowers in March, April, and May. Additionally, as a subscription member, you will have the opportunity to take an in-depth tour of our farm, walk the fields and take a deep dive into the inner workings of our flower farm. You’ll have a whole new understanding and appreciation for locally grown flowers.
I hope I will see you in the next few weeks whether through our workshops and/or spring flowers. Until then, have a safe and happy New Year!
